Planned distance of 12,6km
July 13th
Yesterday I went to the pharmacist, who gave me some drugs to get rid of this critter that is determined to get the better of me, sadly it ain’t gonna succeed.
The albergue in Tineo, although large and in the ‘basement’ (not really, it’s beneath the hotel that runs it) is comfortable, fours bunks per ‘cubicle’ and relatively private, very secure, so you don’t hear anyone tossing and turning like other albergue’s. One thing I will say that they not designed for tall people. Lights out at 22:15. So I managed a good nights rest (nobody snoring that I heard)
I woke up just before 6, some early risers that always have to leave before the crack of dawn, including the two ladies that shared the cubicle with me. Slowly rose and got packing and prepared for the last of the short days.
As I walked out of the albegue I realised that the weather had turned during the night. It was a mere 15 degrees and misty. I quickly added a layer and set off up the hill to get back on to the route.
Leaving Tineo has few hills to climb and descend, ranging from 600m to 800m. I see it as my mini hospitales training. Mostly forest paths up to Villaluz then mostly road walking to Compiello.
I had a brief opportunity to walk with Emiliano, a local from Barcelona, during the walk today. Trudging along in the wet paths, slightly overgrown by grass, so our shoes were soaked. Not pleasant walking when your feet are wet. Fortunately I didn’t have to go far.
Over the last few days I have come across a few interesting things, from decorated buildings to make shift yellow signs. Today I came across a scarecrow, the head was made from a large rounded tin cup, could also have been an old ‘pee pot’. I guess the prey would look at it and be frightened away.
Not much further to report at this stage, other than having to mentally prepare for the challenge tomorrow.
Some pics of the day.
